Past Seminar - Born into Care

Held on 6th March 2023 via Zoom, this seminar focused on the report "Born into Care: Developing best practice guidelines for when the state intervenes at birth" from the Nuffield Family Justice Observatory. 

The purpose of this event was to: 

- Disseminate the findings from the Born into Care research to local authority and private practice lawyers, barristers, Cafcass officers, and Judges within the Family Courts; 

- Share the ongoing work in children’s social care and midwifery that aims to implement the guidelines for good practice; and 

- Hear from parents who have lived experience of care proceedings involving their babies. 

The Nuffield Family Justice Observatory report related to Born into Care from February 2022 is available here, and attendees are encouraged to consider this report in conjunction with the event.
